MAL #2: Leaders on the home-front

Before we talk about leading at work, we must talk about leading at home.  This point may not apply to those single folks out there, but listen anyway; you will have a head start if/when you get married and have children.  It is impossible to think about leading at work when you are not leading at home; that’s why I think leadership applies to every sphere of your life.  As a parent, your primary responsibility is to your spouse and then your children. What is the first thing you do when you get home from work? Now everyone’s circumstances are different here, especially if you work 24-hour shifts, but spending quality time with your family must be a priority.  Watching TV is not quality time.  I am convinced the worst thing that has happened to the modern family is the television.  The average American watches 37 hours of television a week. It’s a sad state of affairs when we spend almost as much time watching television as we do at work. Forget about entertaining yourself and lead your family.
